A little about Calgary
Calgary has over 1,000,000 people and is the sixth largest city in Canada. It is nestled near the foothills of the awesome Rocky Mountains and as such is approximately 3,000 feet above sea level. Calgary has grown about 300,000 people since the 1988 Winter Olympic games. It is also the second largest head office city, second only to Toronto.
Calgary is in Mountain standard time, two hours earlier than Toronto and one hour later than Vancouver.
Alberta has a population of over 2.5 milion people, has an area of 264,474 square miles about the size of Texas or twice the size of Japan.
The major industries in Calgary reflect that of the whole province. Oil and gas is the top job-creating industry followed by agriculture and tourism.
Calgary is home the famous Calgary Stampede, "the Largest Rodeo on Earth" attracting hundreds of thousands of tourists each year.And with the breath taking Rocky Mountains only an hour away, Calgary is considered a very desirable city in which to live.
